What is the Hikvision DS-KIS610-P? It is an IP video intercom kit for a villa, townhouse or small office. The box holds one 4MP outdoor door station with a 150° camera, one 7-inch indoor touch monitor, a rain cover, two power supplies, an administrator card and five key fobs. A visitor presses the single call button, you see and speak to them on the monitor or in the Hik-Connect app, and you can release up to two locks, such as a pedestrian gate and a front door, from the screen, your phone, a key fob or a Bluetooth-paired phone. Both units run on standard PoE, so one network cable carries power and video.

You still need the lock itself (an electric strike, magnetic lock or gate motor interface), a network cable from the gate to the house, and either a PoE switch or the included power supplies. These are chosen at the site survey.
Door Station: What the 4MP Camera and 150° Lens Mean at a Gate
The door station records at up to 4MP (2688 × 1520) with a horizontal field of view of 150° and a vertical field of 75°. At a gate, the wide lens matters more than the resolution: a visitor standing to the side of the panel, or a delivery rider on a motorcycle, stays in frame. Infrared illumination covers up to 3 metres, enough to see a face after dark.
Video is compressed with H.264, H.265 or MJPEG, and the TF card slot accepts cards up to 128 GB. With motion detection and playback, you can review who approached the gate even when nobody pressed the button.
The door station is rated IP65 with a working temperature range of -40 °C to 60 °C. On a west-facing villa wall in Dubai, the upper figure is the one to check, because a panel in direct afternoon sun runs hotter than the air. The rain cover in the kit helps.
Four Ways to Unlock, and Two Locks From One Station
The door station has two relay outputs (maximum 30 VDC, 2 A each). That is the feature that makes this kit suit villas: one relay can drive the pedestrian gate lock and the other the front-door strike, both from the same panel and the same app.
Visitors and residents can be let in four ways:
- Card or key fob. The reader works at 13.56 MHz with Mifare (M1) cards at a reading distance of 2 to 2.5 cm. The door station stores up to 2,000 users and 6,000 cards.
- Bluetooth. A paired phone can unlock as the resident approaches, without opening an app.
- Hik-Connect app. Answer the call and press unlock from anywhere with internet access.
- Indoor station. Press the unlock icon on the 7-inch monitor.
There is also an exit button input, a door contact input so the system knows whether the door actually closed, an RS-485 port and a tamper switch that triggers if the panel is removed from the wall.
Which lock goes on the relay? The relays are switches; the lock has its own power supply. The three we fit most on villas are:
- Magnetic lock (maglock). A plate on the frame and an armature on the gate or door. It holds while powered and releases when the relay cuts the power, so it needs its own 12 V supply and usually a backup battery to stay locked during a power cut. It suits metal pedestrian gates and glass doors where a strike cannot be fitted, and an exit button or sensor inside lets people out.
- Electric strike. Replaces the keeper in the door frame and works with the existing latch. It stays locked without power, so it is the usual choice for a front door and the lock we include in our standard DS-KIS610-P package.
- Gate motor. For a sliding or swing driveway gate, the relay triggers the motor's open input instead of a lock.

Indoor Station and the Hik-Connect App
The DS-KH6350-WTE1 indoor station connects by cable (RJ-45) or 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and is powered by PoE (802.3af) or 12 VDC. Its built-in microphone and loudspeaker use noise suppression and echo cancellation, which stops the call sounding hollow when the gate is near a busy road. It also has 8 alarm inputs, 2 relay outputs and a TF card slot up to 128 GB.
The Hik-Connect app handles calls, live view, unlocking and notifications on iOS and Android. If you already run Hikvision CCTV at the property, the intercom appears in the same app. The door station supports ONVIF, SIP and RTSP, so its video can be recorded by a compatible network video recorder; we confirm recorder compatibility during the survey rather than assuming it.

The menu languages include English and Arabic, useful where family members or staff prefer one or the other on the indoor screen. The door station also offers sound classification detection for screams, glass breaking and crying (recommended distance 3 metres). It is an alert feature, not a replacement for an intruder alarm.

What Installation Involves in Dubai
A typical villa installation is completed in a day once the parts are on site:
- Site survey. We confirm the gate lock type, the cable route from gate to house, where the monitor goes and whether PoE is available. Villa gates are often 20 to 40 metres from the house, so the route and conduit matter.
- Cabling. One Cat6 cable to the door station, powered by PoE from a switch in the house or the included 12 VDC supply at the gate.
- Door station mounting. Surface mounted with the rain cover, at a height that keeps an adult's face in the 150° frame.
- Locks. Wiring the gate maglock or motor and the front-door strike to the two relays, with their power supplies, plus the exit button and door contact if used.
- Indoor station and app. Mounting the monitor, adding both devices to Hik-Connect and testing calls, unlock and notifications on each phone.
- Cards and fobs. Enrolling the five fobs and any extra cards with the administrator card.

Does the Hikvision DS-KIS610-P work without internet?
Yes. Calls between the door station and the indoor monitor run over the local network, so you can see, talk and unlock from the indoor screen without an internet connection. Internet is needed only for the Hik-Connect app on your phone and for remote notifications.
Can I unlock two doors with one DS-KIS610-P?
Yes. The door station has two relay outputs rated at 30 VDC 2 A each, so one can control a pedestrian gate lock and the other a front-door strike, both from the indoor monitor or the app.
Does the DS-KIS610-P need PoE?
